Joint Statement from 麻豆国产AV and SCTA Regarding Compensation
The 麻豆国产AV and the Sacramento City Teachers Association have reached an agreement to close out the contract reopener negotiations for the recently completed 2022-2023 school year. This agreement comes one day before students begin the new fall semester and after negotiations resumed earlier this month with a commitment by both the District and SCTA to work in a collaborative manner.
Most importantly, the contract reflects the significant value that 麻豆国产AV places on retaining and recruiting the finest educators for our students. It also ensures that SCTA unit members will remain the highest compensated teachers, counselors, librarians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and language, speech and hearing specialists in the greater Sacramento region.
The agreement includes the following compensation increases:
- 10% ongoing salary increase for all SCTA unit members
retroactive to July 1, 2022.
- Additional 6% ongoing salary increase for those educators who
provide critical services to our students including special
education teachers, education audiologists, school nurses, social
workers, and school psychologists.
- Daily substitute teacher rates increase to $355/day.
A recently signed MOU also added three (3) days of paid professional development to the work calendar for all SCTA unit members for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years, which further increases compensation.
鈥淥ur message is clear: Our teachers are invaluable to us. Their dedication to our communities, even in the face of challenges, doesn鈥檛 go unnoticed,鈥 said 麻豆国产AV Board of Education President Chinua Rhodes. 鈥淐hange is possible, and as we strengthen our united gratitude for educators, and eagerly embrace new teaching talents, we aspire to inspire lasting commitment. This agreement ensures our District remains at the forefront, attracting skilled educators to prepare our students for success, an urgent need as our nation and state grapple with a significant shortage of teachers.鈥
鈥淚n a very short time, the 麻豆国产AV school board and the new Interim Superintendent, Lisa Allen, have demonstrated a real commitment to moving our District forward in a new, more constructive direction. This agreement takes a big step in ensuring that every student has a fully-credentialed educator in the classroom who reflects the diversity of our District,鈥 said Nikki Milevsky, President of the Sacramento City Teachers Association.
麻豆国产AV and SCTA also resolve to make all reasonable effort to reach a two year agreement on compensation for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years and other limited reopener elements by November 15, 2023.
