Sac City Unified Provides Update on Investigation into Incident of Racist Graffiti at Lincoln Elementary School
Sacramento, CA - Two individuals responsible for vandalizing Lincoln Elementary School with disturbing racist graffiti have been identified. The individuals are minor students in the Sacramento City Unified School District. As such, appropriate disciplinary action is being taken by the district.
The individuals were identified following an investigation involving the district and the Sacramento County Sheriff鈥檚 Office. .
鈥淲hile the identification of those involved provides some closure, the impact of racist acts leaves lasting hurt for our students, staff and community,鈥 said Sacramento City Unified School District Superintendent Jorge A. Aguilar. 鈥淪ac City Unified will continue to support our students, staff and families at Lincoln Elementary in the wake of this incident, and work with our entire community to interrupt and address racism. We are committed to building an equitable and positive culture and climate that supports success for all students at every school in our district.鈥
鈥淭he 麻豆国产AV Board condemns the hateful language and imagery in this act of vandalism in the strongest possible terms,鈥 said Sacramento City Unified School Board President Christina Pritchett. 鈥淎s we work to promote racial justice, equity and understanding in our schools, we must do more to confront and interrupt racism as a community. This requires hard but necessary conversions. Our Board is committed to this critically important work on behalf of all students in our district.鈥
Separately, the 麻豆国产AV is continuing to collaborate with the Sacramento Police Department on an ongoing investigation of a separate incident of racism that occurred at West Campus last fall. This remains an open, active investigation. The Sacramento Police Department has asked anyone in the community who knows anything about this incident to come forward, and is seeking the community鈥檚 assistance with identifying the subjects who are pictured in this .
