麻豆国产AV to celebrate Dr. Seuss鈥 birthday with festive morning read-in
Superintendent Banda, Assemblymember McCarty and kids in pajamas at Bret Harte Elementary
February 29, 2016 (Sacramento): One book, two books, fiction book, true book.
Each year, schools across the country celebrate Dr. Seuss鈥 birthday (Wednesday, March 2) as Read Across America Day, an opportunity for community members to demonstrate the joys of literacy by reading to kids.
麻豆国产AV鈥檚 official Read Across America party will be held this year at Bret Harte Elementary School, 2751 9th Ave. in Curtis Park. Pajama-clad students will be treated to a morning read-in with Superintendent Jos茅 L. Banda, Assemblymember Kevin McCarty and other volunteers from the community.
The read-in will be followed with an assembly featuring local children鈥檚 book author Kate David (鈥淢urphy and the Magical Hat鈥) who will entertain students with an interactive performance involving a box of costumes. David is married to a Kings executive, and the organization is donating books to Bret Harte鈥檚 classroom libraries.
鈥淭here is no better way to emphasize the connection between reading and success in life than to read to children,鈥 says Superintendent Banda. 鈥淎dults can serve as important reading role models. And by reading Dr. Seuss, we鈥檙e showing kids how fun a book can be.鈥
